Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels' secret plans, where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.
Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can't rejoin the angels, can't take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?
My Review
WOW! A terrifying and electrifying WOW!
WORLD AFTER continues on after the end of ANGELFALL (book 1). Penryn is trying to survive in the wreck of what's left of the world, trying to protect her family and trying to find Raffe. This book was just...loaded with thrilling action. I love how Penryn fought so hard for her sister, even though she's a bit scared of her. Her mother is a bit knocked-up in the head, but when it comes to protecting her daughters at a dangerous times, she gives up (nearly) everything to protect them.
This book just captivated me so much that it only took me a few hours to finish it. And after I did, I was practically bawling over it since I wanted--NEEDED more. Susan did such an amazing job at creating an apocalypse that had me head-over-heels addicted with that I even nearly wanted to kill homework since it disturbed me from carry on reading.
Another thing I love is the sword, or Raffe's sword to be exact. Penryn isn't a majorly great fighter, not like the ones that I'm used to anyway. She's weak and slow, and sometimes gets a few hits here and there, but the strongest part of her is that she never gave up. She didn't give up, she carried on for her sister, Raffe and herself. I found that really inspiring.
Apart from Penryn and her family, Raffe has to try and take back his wings. Raffe is this...powerful angel that wants to take revenge. He's not one of the "good" angels. But he's not bad either. In fact, he isn't anything but someone that is warm, charming and beautiful. I would never get tired of reading about him. He isn't the type of person you would run to for help, but he would risk everything to protect the ones he loves.
The fighting scenes were terrifying. I was practically sprawled across the couch when I scrunched up together as I read the fight scenes. I just wanted to scream out and throw my kindle to the ground, but then I thought, I would die without finishing this book.
The story was absolutely--GAH! There wasn't even ONE dull moment, AT ALL! Susan made me risk everything to just finish the book! It was...WOW!

I can't give much away because then I'll spoil the book for you. But I really need to say this: This is the best apocalyptic book I've ever read in 2013. AMAZING!
I recommend this book to everyone who wants an awesome thrilling ride of an apocalyptic world and a bit of romance. AMAZEBALLs!!
