My Review

This book was absolutely, brilliantly, fantastically amazing!

Goddamn you Ms Stylo Fantôme, you just completely blew my freaking mind away with this book. The violence, the language, the characters, absolutely everything blew up my mind and set it back together just to blow it up all over again. Best Laid Plans is by far my favourite book I've read of Ms Fantôme and I cannot stress my love for it enough.

Before I read this book, I was on my way trying to find something that dealt with violence, illegal topics (like the mafia or drug pins), action packed scenarios and romance (preferably R rated romance). And holy shizzles did I find it all in this book. From the beginning of chapter one I was hooked. It started off fast-paced, like rapid fire shots, and it ended fast-paced. So fast that I am left dying for more. I actually have not read anything that is set in Africa, so this was new territory for me, but I loved every second of it. The whole diamond smuggling scheme immediately had my full attention, and Ms Fantôme created the scenes perfectly. Half of the time while reading this book, my heart was skipping way too many beats to count. It had me excited, overwhelmed and just jumping out of my seat because I did not expect it.

Our main hero and heroine, Marc and Lily, were absolutely per-to-the-fect with each other. I love Lily so so much. She was strong, hard-headed, so goddamn smart, feisty, and she took sexy to a whole new level. And no, I am not exaggerating. And Marc? What can I say about Marc? He might be charming, he might be sexy, he might be very kickass, and he might be ruthless and unpredictable. But most of all, he is something that a dictionary and thesaurus can never describe. He takes physical to another stage that I would never want to be levelled at. Marc and Lily's chemistry is like fire. Flaming, wild, and dangerous like pure savages. And although they only clicked in a sexual way at first, their emotions and feelings eventually get pulled in the mix, and it feels like unwrapping Christmas presents while reading about their relationship. Seriously. And that little brawl they had after that first night? Goddamn that was intense and freaking awesome!

“No. Because it had to work. I don't think of things failing because I won't allow them to. Like this plan – maybe it hasn't gone exactly according to plan, but even the best laid plans can fall apart. You just keep going. Failure isn't an option. Failure isn't part of my plan,” she stressed.

Not only do I love Lily and Marc (and Kingsley too because no one can ever resist a French-speaking-Brit, but hey, if I get started on him, I won't stop), but I also adore the thriller of the action in this book. There were so much action, fighting scenes, and car chases. I was jumping out of my seat due to the thrill of it all, and especially during the car chases, my heart was literally banging against my chest like a damn wooden door. I loved every single second of it! Ms Fantôme seriously put me on the edge of my seat because I was slipping out of it every five minutes.

Overall? Love cannot describe how much I adore this book. It was everything I was looking for, and I have to say I am a bit sad there are only two books in this series because it would've been absolutely awesome if it turned into a full series that has the characters in a heist/bounty hunter group or something. But hey, I'd still love it if it didn't.

I absolutely freaking loved this book and I cannot wait to read the second novel, Out Of Plans.

About The Author

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.
I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.
Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
