Love isn't always bright and shiny.
Sometimes, it's dirty and wrong, buried six feet deep in a secret place where only wild things dare to go. Hidden behind a big black curtain that covers things no one should ever see.
Sometimes it happens between two people who should never be allowed to come together. One who is a match, and the other who just happens to be gasoline.
One strike is all it takes to burn the whole world down, and that's exactly what they plan on doing.
Even if it kills them.
Warning: this book contains graphic sex, extremely brutal violence, foul language, and people repeatedly and knowingly breaking the law. 80,000 word full length novel.

My Review

Woah. This book. I don't even know how to describe it. The whole book from start to finish was just fully messed-up to the maximum. And I loved it!

Being a big fan of Ms. Stylo Fantôme after reading her Mercenaries duology and the first two books of the Kane trilogy, I was expecting big things with The Bad Ones. And believe me when I say it is one crazy goddamn ride. From the start to finish, I was hooked. I've always enjoyed reading dark suspenseful romance especially when it deals with psychological aspects of the characters. And this book was just absolutely perfect.

"Do you really think it's that easy? That you can just walk away, little girl? Oh, no. We're in too deep, now. You can't just leave me anymore than I can leave you. So I hope you're ready to buckle up, cause it's gonna be a bumpy fucking ride."

And a bumpy fucking ride it is. The whole book was gritty, twisted, bloody, and goddamn insane. When we first get introduced to Dulcie, our heroine, she almost seemed normal, and I enjoyed reading about her character. But as the story progressed, the little crazy snippets of her mindset just set my seat on fire and I could not wait to see how she turns from being a sacrificial lamb to being the leader of a pack of wolves. And damn, her true personality scares the hell out of me. To be honest, I don't love Dulcie like I do with Lily from the Mercenaries, but she is like a character that you just love to hate and hate to love. She is the villain of the story, but her villainess is just way too addictive to not be engaged in the story.

Constantine Masters is another story. I can't even think of any words to describe him except the fact that he is fucked-up. Fully, and utterly fucked-up. Again, I don't love him. But I'm addicted to him. He's like this drug that messes with your head until you can hardly see straight let alone think. And colliding him with Dulcie, they make the most twisted and dangerous couple.

"Some day you will. Some day, you'll really love me, and if it's even half as much as I love you, we'll set the world on fire."

I usually devour Ms. Fantôme's books in less than two sittings, but with this one, I had to take breaks. It dealt with such dark and graphic matters that it scared the shit out of me. I had to take breaks and calm myself down, because it got me way too worked up and I couldn't even think straight. That ending as well, I was so surprised! I did not expect it to happen, at all. Everything was just insane! And when I finished reading it, it felt like I was stuck on a ten-hour rollercoaster ride.

Crazy, twisted, ferocious, and utterly messed-up. I loved it!

About The Author

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.
I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.
Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
