Series: Rook & Ronin #3
Pub date: October 24th 2013
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Rook is chasing her dream—film school and a chance at a life beyond the one she left behind six months ago. But before she can become the girl she wants to be, she must deal with the girl she left behind.
Ronin is also chasing his dream—a family of his own and a life away from erotic modeling. And he too, has a past he’s trying to forget. A past that makes Rook question everything about their life together.
Lies, secrets, and shocking truths will rock the foundation Rook and Ronin have built. Can they put the past behind them and move forward together? Or is this just another too good to be true relationship that will crash and burn in the end?

My Review

WOW! Just...again...I swear, Julie can never...just NEVER disappoint me.

She did it once, a thousand times, and she still surprised me with her books. This is why I am a MASSIVE fan of hers.

Panic continues on after Manic (book 2 in the Rook & Ronin series), and I have to say, I loved every twist and turn that she put Rook through, how the secrets keep rising up and making me sweat while reading (that is not possible but she did it). At first, Rook and Ronin's relationship is amazing, filled with love, hotness and incredible chemistry. Rook is filming her reality show, and Ronin is leading the GIDGET campaign. But then the string started pulling (I know what you're thinking? Oh what's going to happen?? Well you have to read to find out.)

Rook is pulling away, her past and the secrets about Jon are pushing her further away from her life now. She's scared, worried that no one would understand. And now with Ronin's secret on top of her head, she's worried she won't pull through. In this book, Rook is showing her flaws, her weakness, and I love that. I might have said that I love strong girls who are badass and stuff. But Rook is unbelievable. She's strong, yes, but she doesn't hide the flaws and weakness that she has. She shows it all. And that's what makes her to irresistible.

Ronin, Spencer and Ford is just....they are....three metal balls of hotness that could burn my hand even if I don't touch it (TOTAL hotness). They are Rook's friends and family. They would risk anything for her. But they also have a secret. A secret that they never wanted Rook to find out, they didn't want to put her in danger.

Another thing I really really love about Rook is the fact that she doesn't hide her feelings. Ford is amazing, as always, and he likes her, like really really likes her. And Rook likes him too, and when she accept the fact that she likes him, she doesn't just say "oh I like you, let's dump Ronin". No, she explained and proved to him that yes, she might have feelings for him, but those feelings will put her back in the position where she was before. And that she would rather die than go back to who she was before. I just love that.

Even though their relationship is a bit strained, all four of them still trust each other. And I just love that. They are like brothers and sisters who would do anything to keep each other safe.

"We're a team, remember?"

Julie is an incredible author, she is amazing with her books and I completely love her. And if any of you out there who loves Julie like I do and have read her Rook & Ronin series, be sure to check out her bitch, Junco! (Please, mind my language :))

About The Author

J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label).
She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really–Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master’s degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.
