I didn't have my first dishwasher until we lived our second home we owned as a married couple, and I was expecting my 2nd baby. I know, I had logged YEARS washing dishes by hand.Torture. It is one of my most missed appliances when something goes awry. Then again, I can't exactly think of another appliance I wouldn't also miss, duh.
I got Cascade Complete to compare with similar brand Electrasol.
To be honest, as far as the cleaning all the dishes in a load, it's hard to compare. I mean, no two loads of dishes are the same, some of them have some nasty pots and pans, others don't. You know what I mean. And I wasn't about to shove an entire two layer cake in there to prove how well everything works like the commercials.
The Cascade liquid is thicker. You can tell by one squeeze that there is more "stuff" in it than the Electrasol.
Both the Cascade and the Electrasol have a pleasant smell. I don't know how to describe the Cascade smell other than to say it smells clean. The Electrasol I used is lemon-scented.
Both liquids would get the job done. I don't have a preference on the smell. One difference I would say would be a reason you might want to choose Cascade over the cheaper Electrasol is that it does seem to rinse cleaner. I don't feel anything on the dishes coming out. Any film residue is absent, the Cascade really seems to have something in its formula that allows the dishes to be just the dishes and no layer of film left behind.
Washing dishes is my most least favorite chore. It's good to know somebody out there is making products that get everything clean and rinsed so I can continue to be incredibly lazy.
