Maiden America Barrettes

We have a myriad of hair issues around here. My girls both have long hair (mid-back).
Here's the trouble.

Sammie's hair is pretty thick, and she is going thru that most dreaded of chick endeavors: growing out the bangs.
Emersyn's hair, on the other hand, is really fine. Sometimes, the hair bling I put on her in the morning doesn't stay put.

PBN gave the heads up on Maiden American non-slip hair clips. Since we cover the spectrum on hair I gladly volunteered. Because when it comes to test subjects, little girls who lose their barrettes, I've got two cute ones!

I ordered several styles from the website (very nicely set up and easy to navigate) and was anxious to see what it was about the barrettes that make them non-slip. We received our shipment and the barrettes are very beautiful. Nice quality and a great variety to round out any wardrobe.

I don't even know how to explain the non-slip feature on the barrettes. It's fuzzy and it kind of "grabs" the hair. It's a great concept, wish I'd thought of it!

I styled the girls' hair in a variety of styles to test the durability of the barrettes.
With Em's fine hair, the barrettes stayed in place quite well. I put them on top and to the sides, it didn't seem to matter.

Sammie was the much bigger issue. Styling her hair in the morning before she headed out to school, where she has to maintain her hairstyle thru multiple recesses, her usual "futzing" she does with her hair, and the other rigors of being at school without a hair refresh...well, it was the ultimate test.

She survived almost every hairstyle I put her thru. The only one the Maiden America nonslip function could not handle was the time I put her bangs she is growing out back to the side in a barrette. When she came home it was drooped all the way over to a different zip code.
However, I must add that I only think one scenario may be successful here. Remember in the movie Scrooged when Bill Murray suggests they staple the antlers to the mice?? Getting Sammie's bangs to stay in place thru an entire school day would probably require them being stapled to her skull.

I give Maiden America props for being mom created, beautiful, and solving a common little girl hair issue like that I've heard so many times, "I lost my barrettes at school because they fell out at recess". Stuff like that happens, but with Maiden America, it no longer has to. Because staples should only be used for special occasions.

I'm sorry but that is HYSTERICAL - staples should only be used for special occasions!!!

Didn't see that coming - LOVE IT.

I dropped in to read your review and thank you - thank you for being thorough and thoughtful! I usually tell moms - it's not that they CAN'T be pulled out...it's that Pavlov had a theory! The thing with very fine hair is to center it well (if you don't have enough to fill the barrette). Of course, filling the barrette is the ultimate. We have three girls and occasionally, we get that odd experience - but I know these gals are lightening on the playground! Anyway - I'm thrilled for your review and appreciate the time you took to write it. Time is our greatest gift - thank you!
