Prestone Windshield De-Icer and Windsheild Fluid Booster

You, who live in more temperate climates and have never experienced snow, well, you might have some idyllic Norman Rockwell ideal pictured in your heads. Children romping playfully in wispy drifts, crystallized landscapes of glinting winter white, snowmen standing guard in front of every house. A lovely scene to look at while one sits cozily in front of their fireplace, sipping cocoa.

Yeah, OK. Sometimes, winter weather is nice like that.

And sometimes, it just sucks.

I enjoy the former more than the latter because if weather is treacherous, I try not to be dumb enough to travel in it. Then again, sometimes bad weather develops in the time frame during which one is at the grocery store and you come outside and your car is suddenly covered with a layer of ice and snow.

However, when I got the Prestone products from Parent Bloggers Network, I knew I’d really have turn one of them over to use for somebody else. Why? I’m a spoiled rotten brat with a heated garage in which to park my vehicle. Properly timed and smart planning have prevented me from needing to scrape my windows yet this year.

Hubby, though, he’s not so lucky. At work, his vehicle is always parked outside. That’s anywhere from nine to twelve hours a day depending on his schedule. Problem is, he’s a volunteer fireman, and when his pager goes off, he needs to be able to respond quickly. That’s not easy to do with a windshield sporting a layer of ice.

Of the Prestone Windshield De-Icer, he said,
“In the car business, I’m already well familiar with Prestone products. Keeping this De-Icer handy for going to fire calls was convenient because I never know when I’m going to need to leave. The spray was pretty well enough to get my windshield clear, there’s very little scraping necessary. The solvent itself melts away the ice fast. I cleared everything to see out safely and made the fire call and was on a rolling truck out of the station in very little time.”
The Prestone Windshield Fluid Booster was something I could add to my vehicle though. We had a lot of snow and ice in early December but ever since there’s just been below freezing temperatures most of the time to keep everything in place and I haven’t had to deal with ice on my windshield. But when other cars are kicking up all the salt, grime, and other winter guck onto the windshield it helps to have something in with the washer fluid that takes cares of those other components. There is a vast difference to what lands on my windshield in the winter than in the summer. And it takes a lot more to really clean it well. The Fluid Booster has done an effective job. Then again, in the time frame, I’ve not dealt with much ice and snow but around here yet. But in Iowa, you never count on winter being over until at least April and even then a late blizzard can surprise you out of the blue, even after weeks of 70-80 degree days. I’m glad to have it helping out this year because I know I have a few whoppers of snow and ice yet to come my way.

Reviewing these products wasn’t tricky. Any Iowan worth their salt knows Prestone products, we know all the things that make a hard winter easier. Heck, I remember my grandpa having Prestone out in the machine shed on the farm way back in the day. Winter can’t be avoided around here. These two added to your arsenal of winter weapons will certainly help.

Thanks for the details! We are expecting a couple inches of snow followed by ice so I will run out for some of this TODAY!

Winter's awesome! It prunes back the bugs, lets plants rest for a while, and provides much needed snow for the spring runoff.

Yea, verily I say that winter is the best when it's 15 degrees outside and the wind is whoopin' it up at around 35 mph so that half of all of the hay that I feed finds its way directly into one of my eyeballs and starts to accumulate upon the icicles forming beneath my nostrils on my moustache making for one glorious popsicle. Yes winter... I know thee well.

Sounds like a good product, but I am enjoying my automatic pre-starter. I just need to remember to leave the blowers on high when I shut the car off. Thank goodness the rear window defroster clicks on automatically.

Oh yeah, and I do have a garage for the end of the night parking =)

I'll try it, but I'll have to wait for it to freeze in the DFW area which could be a while.

I'm lucky if my car manages to be in the driveway! Too many cars in this house. Sounds like good products. Do they have anything to warm my engines while I freeze out there warming my car's engines? :)
